December Kickoff Events

Hey litties, here’s what’s happening this week!

December 6 — Krampus’ Secret Bookshop @ Two Brothers Roundhouse (11–4PM)

We’re leaning into the spooky side of the season with a Krampus-themed pop-up horror bookshop at the historic Roundhouse. Think: festive drinks, chilling reads, and authors who know their way around a good nightmare.
(One block from Aurora’s Christkindlmarket — make a whole day of it!)

December 7 — Books, Boughs & Brews @ Begyle Brewing (1–6PM)

A cozy winter market with fresh pints, a taco truck, and curated book selections perfect for gifting (or keeping for yourself—no judgment here). Expect good smells, good beer, and good vibes.

More December Events

Holiday chaos? We counter it with books, brews, and extra cozy vibes. Here’s where we’ll be rolling during the rest of December — plus a peek at what’s coming up and this month’s featured charity.

December 13 — Holiday Market @ Half Acre Beer Co. (12–6PM)

A big, bustling, beautifully chaotic holiday market at one of the city’s favorite breweries. We’ll have seasonal reads, mystery bundles, and plenty of last-minute gift options.

December 20 — Holiday Cheers & Chapters @ Sketchbook Skokie (12–4PM)

Our final December stop before we transform into full hibernation mode. Cozy beers, chill energy, and book shopping without mall-level panic.

Holiday Book Drive — All December Long!

This month, The Lit Wagon is spreading cheer the best way we know how: with books, toys, and community kindness. We’re partnering with Toys for Tots to bring a little extra magic to local kids who could use it this season.

Into the New Year

January 4 — Brew Year, New Reads @ Macushla Brewing (1–5PM)

Start 2026 with better habits, better beer, and better books. Self-improvement picks, wellness reads, and the return of Blind Date With a Book. It’s “New Year, New You,” but make it fun and low-stress.

Next Year: The Skokie Winter Market

The Lit Wagon is excited to be included in this indoor/outdoor market, which will be held twice a month on Sundays from January through April, from 9:00 am to 12:30 pm (January 12 and 26, February 9 and 23, March 9 and 23, and April 13 and 27). You will find winter-harvest vegetables, farm-fresh eggs, meat, plus books galore & more. Come snow or shine!

A Quick Note from Me

This is my first December running The Lit Wagon, and honestly? I’m still figuring it out as I go — usually with a coffee in one hand and a stack of books threatening to fall out of the other. When I launched this little bookshop-on-wheels, I hoped it would find its people. I hoped it would bring joy, connection, and maybe a few surprise paperbacks into the hands of readers.

But what’s happened so far has already exceeded the ideas I had scribbled in a notebook. But even in these early days, you’ve all shown up with so much enthusiasm, curiosity, and “wait, is this a bookshop… in a wagon?” energy. And I love it.

Thank you for showing up, spreading the word, choosing to shop small, and helping us make a real difference this December. I can’t wait for everything ahead.

Let’s make December cozy, chaotic (in the best way), and full of stories worth sharing.
